| The German Wine Society began as a Canadian
alumni association for people who had participated in
the German Wine Academy course in Kloster Eberbach.
These wine enthusiasts wanted to continue their education
and pursue their appreciation of German wines through
contact with people of similar interests.
From these roots, German Wine Academy graduates living
in cities across Canada, decided that a good way to
share their knowledge and appreciation of the fine wines
of Germany would be through a wine club which had an
emphasis on education.
This emphasis has changed in recent years for the Vancouver
Chapter. It seems our members are very much interested
in the social aspect matching wines with a variety of
contemporary and ethnic cuisines.
As a member you are invited to participate in special
club events featuring
* Special dinners with a selection of German wines
* Access to German wines for purchase not generally
available in Canada
Wine Club bulletins keep members informed of upcoming
events and appraised of interesting new developments
in Germany's 13 wine regions.
Wine Club events are held throughout the year and members
are invited to bring guests to the events at specified
non-member prices. Designated driver prices are also
in effect for some events. Event prices are set to cover
the cost of the event and represent an excellent value.
German Wine Society chapters in Canada operate as totally
independent clubs, electing their own executive and
organizing their own social and educational events.
The German Wine Society is a non-profit organization.
Currently the annual membership is $15.00 for a single
member and $25.00 for a spousal membership.
