For more than twenty years, the Australian Wine Appreciation Society (AWAS) has been the number-one club in Vancouver for lovers of Australian wine.  Every year, AWAS provides its members and their guests with a series of tastings, dinners, and other wine-related events that showcase the incredible diversity, complexity, and value of Australian wines. 

With the help of Australian wineries, local wine agents, and its own cellar, AWAS is able to provide members with access to both recent and older vintages of well known and not-so-well known Australian wines.  We even are confident enough to occasionally “challenge” other countries to see if their wines can stand up to Australia’s.  (The other countries’ wines are not chosen by AWAS, just to keep it fair.)

All this in an environment that welcomes beginners and long-time fans of Aussie wine alike!

AWAS members receive regular newsletters with information on upcoming events, preferential reservations for popular AWAS events such as the annual wine and cheese tasting and the Gala Dinner, and discounted pricing for virtually all events.

There are approximately 12 events each year, with many of the events are held at the Coast Plaza Hotel (on Comox Street near Denman)   AWAS also holds events at a variety of centrally located restaurants and other venues.

A list of the scheduled events for the upcoming season will be attached soon.  If AWAS gets the chance to have an event with a visiting winemaker or winery principal, you can be sure that we’re willing to add more events!

The AWAS year runs from September 1st to August 31st.  Dues are currently $40 for a single membership and $65 for a couple membership.
