With the imminent release of its first Cabernet Sauvignon, this Similkameen winery rounds out a red portfolio already including excellent Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah and two Meritage blends, including The Legend. Winery owner George Hanson is also thinking of releasing a Petit Verdot.
This is an elegant and cellar-worthy wine with a personality that recalls a Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon from Western Australia. There is a hint of bell pepper on the nose. As the wine opens up, a lovely cassis aroma takes over. On the palate, there are flavours of currants and blackberries, along with notes of plum and coffee. The texture is firm and concentrated, with long ripe tannins. There is lingering fruit sweetness on the finish.
