Cassini Cellars, a winery on the highway between Oliver and Osoyoos, produces – among many good wines – two Chardonnays. The Reserve Chardonnay, priced at $29, is a full-bore barrel-aged wine for those preferring rich and ripe Chardonnay.
That usually includes my palate. In this case, however, I liked the unoaked Chardonnay even more. This is a crisp, refreshing and fruit-forward wine with aromas of citrus, apple, pear and pineapple. The palate reflects all of those flavours, plus a hint of passion fruit. Every glass tastes like more.
