The Kraze Legz winery, which opened last September, is the first winery in Kaleden. Owners Susan and Gerry Thygesen have built their portfolio around a 1920s theme, complete with period music and occasional period dress in the tasting room. The silkscreened bottles include impassioned jazz dances on the front and a keyhole on the back, recalling the keyholes through which arriving bar patrons were screened in the Prohibition era.
It is all good fun, as is this delicious rosé. The juice for this wine got its deep colour from good skin contact with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. The juice was co-fermented, along with a dash of Pinot Blanc. The result is a wine with a dark hue and with intense flavours of cranberry and raspberry. The finish is long and dry. This is a fine summertime wine.
