St. Hubertus and Oak Bay Estate Winery has the advantage of being based on one of the Kelowna area’s historic vineyards. While there are no vines remaining from the 1928 plantings (a good thing, considering what grapes were being planted then), the vineyard has some Riesling that was planted in 1978, among the oldest in the Okanagan.

The maturity of those vines shows in the fine mineral backbone of this wine. It begins with aromas of herbs (I even found a hint of celery salt) as well as petrol and citrus; the latter carries through to the flavours. This is a very well-balanced wine with a moderate alcohol that adds to its appealing drinkability.
