In just four vintages, Foxtrot Vineyards has established itself among the leading Okanagan Pinot Noir producers – if not the best. Foxtrot is a boutique winery on the Naramata Bench operated by Torsten Allander, a retired pulp and paper engineer, and his family. Gustav Allander, his son, and Nadine Kinvig, Gustav’s wife and a New Zealand-trained winemaker, make the wines in a superb underground cave. Because the winery makes perhaps 1,000 cases a year of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there is no tasting room.
The 2007 Foxtrot Pinot Noir delivers a satisfying, sensuous experience, beginning with its beautiful deep colour and its aromas of spice and strawberries. The flavours are seductively delicious – strawberry, cherry, a touch of mocha, a kiss of spice, a hint of good French oak. The velvet texture contributes to the wine’s sumptuous richness on the palate. The finish lingers forever. This is a memorable wine.
