This is one of a trio of aromatic 2008 white wines that CedarCreek is releasing on April 1, all under screw cap for the first time and all priced at $18. The other varietals are the winery’s legendary Ehrenfelser and its peachy Gewürztraminer.
Riesling lovers will rejoice at this wine, serious but approachable. It is a polished and beautifully balanced wine that finishes dry without being austere. The acidity is tangy but it is nicely set against just enough natural sugar that, unlike some dry Rieslings, this does not come off as a wine with teeth. The aromas and flavours are a bouquet of fruit, including pineapple, lime and green apple. There is a pristine freshness to this wine that just adds to its superb drinkability.
