The technical sheet on this wine reveals that the grapes were picked November 3 to 5 in Oliver area vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon is a late ripening grape and the only way to get it fully mature is to leave it hang until there is nothing more to squeeze from the sun.
This wine tastes superbly of ripe fruit. It begins with aromas of blackberries, plums and vanilla; the latter comes from the 15 months the wine aged in two-year-old French and American oak barrels. On the palate, there are flavours of black currants, plums and chocolate. The texture, thanks to the long ripe tannins, is full and satisfying. This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon with a price that is easy on the budget. The wine also shows how quality has risen ever since 2005, when the new winemaking team began riding herd over the winery’s growers. 88
